Posted by Keith Frankel on Oct 20, 2017 5:04:13 PM

Wouldn't it be cool if, after the completion of your daily flashcards, you were able to re-do specifics cards again without having to work through the entire task a second time? For example if you wanted to just focus on the cards you rated a 1 or 2, or re-review flashcards from Urgent topics regardless of rating. Well, now you can!

Posted by Keith Frankel on Oct 6, 2017 4:00:58 PM

As you likely know, each day Firecracker assigns you a single Daily Patient Case from our Q-bank which we think you have a 50% chance of answering correctly based on your past progress and performance. The goal of these cases is simple: get you comfortable answering board-style questions as early into your medical education as possible. Well today, we’re excited to announce that we’ve launched a big update: you can now do as many of these cases as you’d like each day via our new Daily Patient Case ‘Get Ahead’ task!

Progress Tracking in Study Something Specific

Posted by Keith Frankel on Oct 5, 2017 5:52:10 PM

Until today, in Study Something Specific, you could review your progress and performance across each of the testable subject areas for your board exams. Some of the stats we showed were the number and percentage of topics you’ve marked, flashcards you’ve reviewed, and clinical vignettes you’ve answered. Today, though, we’re excited to announce the launch an update to Study Something Specific. Now, not only will you be able to see even more progress stats, including the amount of content which is at risk of being forgotten from each of your content modules, but you’ll also find it much easier to navigate and drill into specific modules.

"Winning" in Medical School

Posted by Keith Frankel on Sep 27, 2017 2:06:16 PM

Over the past 8 years, more than 150,000 medical students have used Firecracker, and on average, they score 16 points higher on their USMLE Step 1 board exams, regardless of incoming MCAT score. We recently asked a group of our most successful past students what advice they’d give new med students regarding how to “win” at medical school. Here are four tips that we've gathered, from their experiences.

The end of our Back to School seasonal sale is this Saturday - 'til then, you can get Firecracker MD and DO - all flash cards, q-bank, and practice exams - for $300 for 2 years (or any other term you need). Here.

Introducing Firecracker Board Bundles, a better way to UFAP.

Posted by Keith Frankel on Aug 29, 2017 4:30:17 PM

We get it: Sometimes the traditional way just seems easier. Use exactly what students have been using for years, don’t take a risk by trying something cutting edge, and trust the safe path to get you where you want to go. If only that path didn’t cost nearly $1000 each year, am I right? Well now, it doesn’t. Say hello to Firecracker’s new Step 1 & COMLEX L1 Board Bundles, more effective – cost and otherwise – alternatives to the traditional UFAP + Sketchy approach to board preparation. For 75% less than you’ll pay for UFAP + Sketchy, you can get the equivalent content in Firecracker, plus all of the features, functionality, and service that more than 150,000 medical students have trusted to improve their board scores by 16 points.

Posted by Keith Frankel on Aug 24, 2017 7:13:11 PM

For every paying Firecracker student (womp - sorry temporary trialers), you can now access these immediately by clicking the new Resource icon (next to citations and notes) whenever you encounter a concept in Firecracker, whether that’s during a review session or while reading through Study Something Specific.

Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks?

Posted by Keith Frankel on Aug 4, 2017 5:22:50 PM

1 year of Firecracker for $180 through August.

At Firecracker, one of the goals of our product team is to release improvements to the platform as frequently as possible, with our ideal release cadence being every week or two. And rather than charge our users an additional fee for access to each new feature we improve or launch, we automatically grandfather all existing users into all new features. We figure since you committed to us, it’s the least we could do. So with that said, we’re excited to preview a few upcoming features which we’ll be launching this month.

Daily Study Times in Firecracker (Coming Soon)

Posted by Keith Frankel on Jun 28, 2017 1:22:27 PM

Wouldn’t it be cool if every time you came into Firecracker you could set a timer to help pace yourself and keep track of exactly how much time you had available to study that day? Well soon, that’s exactly what you’ll be able to do. In early July, we’ll be launching Daily Study Timers, allowing you to set a daily timer directly from your task list on Today’s To-Dos (video demo below!) Not to be confused with our single review session Shot Clock, the Study Timer will countdown while you’re working through any Firecracker material, as well as pause whenever it notices a period of inactivity. Best yet, whenever you turn off the timer or it naturally comes to an end, you will immediately receive a pop up which gives you a summary of what you completed during the allotted time, such as number of questions answered, topics marked, and notes added.

New Firecracker Products are Here

Posted by Keith Frankel on Feb 10, 2017 12:40:35 PM

Today we’re excited to announce the launch of a new suite of Firecracker products. Until now, all of our features and content were available in two subscriptions: Firecracker MD & DO. These contained everything we’ve ever built: complete topic coverage for Step 1, Step 2, and COMLEX exams, as well Clerkships, Dedicated Test Prep mode, and High Yield mode. Beginning today, though, we’re offering a set of these as standalone products. You can now purchase High Yield only mode as a standalone for Step 1, Step 2, or COMLEX Level 1 exams. These feature a smaller content set and a single board practice exam. In addition, you can also now purchase each of our Clerkships as standalone products, each containing only the relevant topics and a single shelf practice exam to help you as you’re running around the wards.
