A Better Way to Learn

Many users ask "How many questions should I expect to do each day on Firecracker?" The answer is entirely up to you. Firecracker prioritizes when to review each question based on your previous performance and the question's "stickiness".

Research has repeatedly shown that spaced repetition, or distributed learning, is the best way to learn and commit knowledge to long term memory. The return on time investment from picking up your phone to just do just a few high priority Firecracker questions each day is immense.

Here's what the data shows:

Questions Per Day Avg Step 1 Score Median Step 1 Score
1-59 235 239
60-119 238.66 242
120+ 250.18 252

The above data only included Firecracker users who used Firecracker for 3 or more months. There was a significant correlation (correlation coefficient=0.32) between number of questions done per day and USMLE Step 1 score.

Most Firecrackers do about 80 questions a day. Our data suggests that each question takes about 30 seconds to complete. That means that most Firecrackers only need to spend 40 minutes a day on Firecracker to raise their Step 1 score from a 229 (non-Firecracker average) to a 243 (Firecracker average). Use Firecracker whenever you want with Firecracker's new mobile app! Happy Crackin!
