As promised, our team of editors has continued work to produce more clerkship modules for Firecracker members. We now offer seven clerkship modules: Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Ob/Gyn, Surgery, Psychiatry, Pediatrics and Family Medicine. You can sign up for one at a time - or get all of them with Firecracker MD and Firecracker DO.
Today we’re excited to announce the launch of a new suite of Firecracker products. Until now, all of our features and content were available in two subscriptions: Firecracker MD & DO. These contained everything we’ve ever built: complete topic coverage for Step 1, Step 2, and COMLEX exams, as well Clerkships, Dedicated Test Prep mode, and High Yield mode. Beginning today, though, we’re offering a set of these as standalone products. You can now purchase High Yield only mode as a standalone for Step 1, Step 2, or COMLEX Level 1 exams. These feature a smaller content set and a single board practice exam. In addition, you can also now purchase each of our Clerkships as standalone products, each containing only the relevant topics and a single shelf practice exam to help you as you’re running around the wards.
For years we’ve considered unbundling the entire suite of Firecracker’s features and content so students could buy exactly what they need, exactly when they need it – all at price points that are fair and reflect those different degrees of access. And believe it or not, we’re finally ready to try it. So beginning next week, in addition to offering our current Firecracker MD & Firecracker DO full-suite products, we’re also going to be offering the following exam-specific standalone products for purchase:
Winter break is upon us, and students are asking us how to maximize productivity while balancing leisure time with friends and family. This time of year tends to be one of the most popular times for medical students to diligently dive into Firecracker. Whether you can hardly believe you made it through your first semester of medical school, or you're seeing that board exam date looming on the horizon, there's no better New Year's resolution than a regular review routine:
Firecracker has embarked on a new project: creating new modules for all the major Clerkships. Last month we released the Family Medicine Clerkship, and today we’re excited to launch Pediatrics and Psychiatry Clerkships. In addition to getting these as part of any Step 2 CK Firecracker membership, you can also buy them separately for only $40 for a month of access. You can access these new modules from Study Something Specific by choosing them directly from the dropdown at the top of the page.
This is an updated version of the guide we published last year, updated to reflect the new Firecracker MD/DO and Q-bank integration on Firecracker. Thanks to Firecracker editor Dhara Kinariwala for making this update!
Third year has finally arrived. You get to do what you’ve always wanted to do: see patients. Step 1 is long gone, and you’ve hopefully had some time to rest and relax before starting clinical rotations.
So how can you study effectively during your clinical years?
Today we’re excited to announce the release of the first of many significant updates to Firecracker MD and Firecracker DO centered around testing your mastery. Now, you can take one of several carefully created standardized exams to help prepare you for your classes, wards, and boards.
Preparing for your Family Medicine Rotation
Your family medicine clerkship is a rotation unlike any other in terms of the day to day experience (and, unfortunately, the final exam- more on than later). Unlike other rotations, in family medicine rotations you are paired up with a family practitioner and spend all day, every day of the rotation working right alongside her/him. Odds are you will spend more time with that attending then all other attendings of your core clerkships combined. In most schools, you are matched with physicians in surrounding rural areas and might even end up living there during the week. This is a unique opportunity to experience rural medicine.
So you’ve finally taken Step 1. The biggest of CONGRATULATIONS!! You’ve unflagged all the Step 1 content on Firecracker, put away your First Aid, and allowed your question bank to expire. The worst is over; the fun begins!
It’s time to work with real patients all day, every day! Here are some things you can look forward to now that you’re starting your third year:
