Step by Step: Step 1, Clerkships, Step 2...Residency

Posted by Emily Baillieul on Aug 18, 2017 3:40:06 PM

Through August 21: Get Firecracker for 2 years, $250.

There’s a method to this. Medical school is a marathon rather than a sprint. If you’re taking your Step 1 exam this spring you know you need to begin serious study now so that you will be prepared when you start your dedicated prep period in a few months.

We've been tracking the Step 1 scores of Firecracker and non-Firecracker users for three years. Every year Firecracker users outperform non-users, and by an increasing margin. No other learning tool can claim this. Our most recent data shows Firecracker can raise Step 1 scores by 16 points - that can make all the difference in terms of the residency placement you’re able to achieve.

New Firecracker Products are Here

Posted by Keith Frankel on Feb 10, 2017 12:40:35 PM

Today we’re excited to announce the launch of a new suite of Firecracker products. Until now, all of our features and content were available in two subscriptions: Firecracker MD & DO. These contained everything we’ve ever built: complete topic coverage for Step 1, Step 2, and COMLEX exams, as well Clerkships, Dedicated Test Prep mode, and High Yield mode. Beginning today, though, we’re offering a set of these as standalone products. You can now purchase High Yield only mode as a standalone for Step 1, Step 2, or COMLEX Level 1 exams. These feature a smaller content set and a single board practice exam. In addition, you can also now purchase each of our Clerkships as standalone products, each containing only the relevant topics and a single shelf practice exam to help you as you’re running around the wards.

Posted by Keith Frankel on Feb 3, 2017 2:57:21 PM

And believe it or not, we’re finally ready to try it. So beginning next week, in addition to offering our current Firecracker MD & Firecracker DO full-suite products, we’re also going to be offering the following exam-specific standalone products for purchase:

Posted by Trevor Rosenlof on May 25, 2016 11:02:50 AM

This is an updated version of the guide we published last year, updated to reflect the new Firecracker MD/DO and Q-bank integration on Firecracker. Thanks to Firecracker editor Dhara Kinariwala for making this update!

Third year has finally arrived. You get to do what you’ve always wanted to do: see patients. Step 1 is long gone, and you’ve hopefully had some time to rest and relax before starting clinical rotations.

So how can you study effectively during your clinical years?

Preparing for Your Family Medicine Rotation

Posted by Van Krueger on Nov 4, 2015 1:54:46 PM

Preparing for your Family Medicine Rotation

Your family medicine clerkship is a rotation unlike any other in terms of the day to day experience (and, unfortunately, the final exam- more on than later).  Unlike other rotations, in family medicine rotations you are paired up with a family practitioner and spend all day, every day of the rotation working right alongside her/him.  Odds are you will spend more time with that attending then all other attendings of your core clerkships combined.  In most schools, you are matched with physicians in surrounding rural areas and might even end up living there during the week.  This is a unique opportunity to experience rural medicine.
